Hello again to all!

There’s three things on this post, Steve Jobs, updates on our work, and a new project that were very thankful and excited about!

First, it was a day of mourning yesterday in the tech industry when one of it’s most celebrated visionaries, Steve Paul Jobs, former CEO of Apple Computer and Pixar passed away, you will be missed. There’s been numerous write-ups and tribute to him, i won’t add to it though his Stanford Speech is definitely worth watching where he shares his life’s lessons. I just learned that he have a lot of contributions to Wolfram Research’s products, i know there’s something special about the organization, now i know it has Steve’s Touch.

First, some of the projects we did in the past months:

ASLAX Phils - The company’s expertise lies in the development, sourcing, and supply of products across many food groups on a world-wide basis, including raw, coated, marinated foods. They have manufacturing plant’s in the Philippines and is exporting products to other countries.

iPanel - This is the third product philcoders built this year in partnership with CCI and is currently being marketed in Canada. The first two are CIMS and Portsuite, all three are automation solutions for use of various property management organizations in the US and Canada regions.

System P version 2 - We are nearing completion of our Complete Business Automation System, this is the perfect software you will ever need to automate your point of sales, warehousing / inventory, client management and managing your multiple branches. Early version of this system has been used for LuckyBook Store in Lucena City, and an updated version is currently being implemented in RRJ Tyrejaos Trading Corporation.

There is a lot going but of course, in tribute to Steve Jobs, there’s “One More Thing”!, to start philcoder’s second year, we are proud and excited to announce that philcoder’s have been awarded another high-profile project, the opportunity to create a new website for one of the most successful drug store chain in our region, Carlos SuperDrug!!! We thank the Carlos SuperDrug management for giving us this very good opportunity! More on this will be announced soon!

Uxcor is an IT consulting firm based in Michigan USA, philcoders was responsible for creating their website with special features such as Employee and client portal which was done using Drupal 7!!! Thank God for His loving kindness.

Located in Tayabas, Quezon, KAMAYAN SA PALAISDAAN is an ideal getaway restaurant for seafood lovers. Kamayan Sa Palaisdaan is one of the most popular Hotel/Resort/Restaurant/Bar Cafe in Quezon.

We thank God for giving us the strength and skills to finish this project. We’re looking forward to the new set of projects we will doing for the next couple of months.

We’ve been waiting for this day! We congratulate all the open-source contributors and supporters of the Drupal project! Regards to Dries and Webchick for their leadership to one of the most successful open source CMS project ever created, for those who are not familiar with Drupal it is the base CMS used to create THE Official Website of Whitehouse.gov, The US Department of Commerce, most of the website for Sony BMG’s Artists such as Christina Aguillera, the REALLY smart people at MENSA use drupal for their main website, and a lot more, if you want to see a list of the most high-profile projects built using Drupal, head to Dries Buytaert’s (Dries is the creator of Drupal) list which can be found here.

For the past year philcoders have created our projects using Joomla. Another popular CMS which will be releasing version 1.6 of their CMS very soon. Some of the projects we created using Joomla are The Official Website Of Queen Margarette Hotel, the website for Ginoo At Binibining Quezon 2010 and Flavours Holidays (We subcontracted the flavours project from another Irish owned web development company). We also have conducted seminars featuring Joomla in 2010 and 2009, the latest being the SLSU Web Development Seminar, for Southern Luzon State University’s 3rd, 4th and 5th Year Computer Engineering Students. Another open-source project we use is Wordpress, which is a blogging platform we used to create Alaxon Inc a consulting company based in Las Vegas Nevada. We’ve known Joomla’s inside like the back of our hand, we have no problem creating complete websites, designing templates and custom extensions with its MVC prefferring engine and we know its limits and it has some very good functionalities also.

But for 2011, it will at most be Drupal 7 for the projects we do here at philcoders, there are three projects we hope to launch this January 2011 using Drupal 7, one is the Official Website of Kamayan Sa Palaisdaan - one of the most popular restaurants here in Quezon, Uxcor Inc. an IT Consulting Firm operating in Michigan USA, Canada, Korea and in the Philippines, and of course, we will also be redoing our very own website, philcoders.com using Drupal 7. Exciting times ahead! Last November 26, 2010, Arthur Abogadil, philcoders Lead Software and Web Developer delivered a lecture in front of 3rd-5th Year Computer Engineering Students of Southern Luzon State University (formerly SLPC), the main topic discussed in the seminar was Web Development Fundamentals and Tools. We are really happy that with God’s help, we are able to share some of the things we know regarding the web development process and industry. We hope that each of the participants got something they will be able to use in their choice of career in the future.

All the participants are members of SLSU’s Integrated Computer Engineering Society (ICoENS) and Society of Computer Engineers (SCoPES). Thanks for inviting us to give the lecture and we hope that it was a good experience for all. Thanks! We will be posting the seminar slides and other resources here in a few days so that all the participants will be able to download it.

We are very pleased to announce that the philcoders team was awarded another web redesign project today!  

 
Kamayan sa Palaisdaan Restaurant, Bar, Hotel and Resort in Tayabas Quezon, one of the most popular destination in Quezon.

 

We will be redesigning the Official Kamayan sa Palaisdaan Website located at kamayansapalaisdaan.com.ph. We thank God for this new project, we can’t contain the happiness in our hearts for all His kindness!

The new http://www.queenmargarettehotel.com/ is now live, this is the latest project from the philcoders team! We appreciate all the help we got from everyone, first of all from our Almighty God, for giving us the strength, talent, opportunity and everything! We firmly believe that we wont be able to finish this project, let alone get this high profile project in the first place if God did not help us. 

We also like to thank the Queen Margarette Hotel management, Mam Edna and Sir Al for trusting us with the redesign project, Ms. Maricar and Mr. Jansel for keeping up with us during the project. Our photographer, Mr. Sonny, for keeping his patience during the several retakes when we are building the virtual tours! The first and finest, Queen Margarette Hotel is regarded as a premiere hotel in Southern Tagalog. Located on the outskirts of the progressive city of Lucena, 137 kilometers from Manila. philcoders successfully finished a redesign of the hotel’s official website on November 2010. philcoders completed a month long website redesign project for Southern Tagalog’s first and finest hotel, and we will be launching it in two days! The newly redesigned site will be hosted at http://www.queenmargarettehotel.com starting on November 9, 2010. Improvements includes a fine, elegant design, interactive 360 degrees virtual tours, modern image galleries and much much more!, we will be announcing more on this blog in a few days.
